Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 8, 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Absurd Trolley Problems Editor("the Extension", "we", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information. This Extension is developed and maintained by N6 Studio.
The Extension lets you translate, edit and personalize the Absurd Trolley Problems game on neal.fun: translate its text, edit level titles and prompts, and overlay your own avatar on the game characters. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about our data practices.
Data Collection
The Extension collects the following types of data, all of which are stored locally on your device:
- User Preferences: Language selection and translation preferences
- Extension State: Enable/disable state of the extension
- Custom Translations: Any custom translations or level data you create or modify
- Avatar: The image you choose to overlay on the game characters, and its position and styling settings
- Debug Settings: Debug mode preferences and settings
Important: The Extension reads game state information from the website's localStorage for translation purposes, but this data is not collected, stored, or transmitted by the Extension. All processing occurs locally in your browser.
Data Storage
All data collected by the Extension is stored exclusively on your local device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. This means:
- Your content and settings are never transmitted to external servers
- Your content and settings are not stored in cloud services
- All data remains on your device and is accessible only to the Extension
- Data persists locally until you uninstall the Extension or manually clear it
Data Usage
The data we collect is used solely for the following purposes:
- Translating the game, applying your level edits and showing your avatar within the game
- Remembering your language preferences and settings
- Maintaining your custom translations and modifications
- Preserving your extension enable/disable state
- Supporting debug functionality when enabled
We do not use your data for analytics, advertising, or any other purposes beyond the core functionality of the Extension.
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transmit your content or settings to any third parties. This includes:
- No data sharing with advertisers or marketing companies
- No data transmission to analytics services
- No data sharing with other extensions or applications
- No data sharing with any external servers or services
Your content and settings remain local to your device and are never accessed by anyone other than you through the Extension interface. Purchase and license data is handled only as described under Purchases and Licenses.
Third-Party Services
Apart from payments (see Purchases and Licenses, handled by Stripe and, for earlier purchases, ExtensionPay), the Extension does not use any third-party services, including:
- No external APIs or web services
- No analytics or tracking services
- No advertising networks
- No cloud storage services
- No authentication or user management services
Apart from purchases and licenses, all functionality is provided through local processing within your browser.
Purchases and Licenses
The Extension's premium features can be unlocked with a one-time purchase. Only for that, the Extension talks to our license server at n6.studio:
- Install ID: a random identifier created by the Extension and kept in Chrome's synced storage. It is sent when you buy, restore or migrate a purchase, so the license can be bound to your install and the number of installs per purchase can be counted. It contains no personal information.
- License and license key: after a purchase, the Extension stores a signed license and your license key (
N6-…) in Chrome storage. Your paid status is checked on your device; the Extension does not contact any server when you open it. - Earlier ExtensionPay purchases: if you bought the Extension through ExtensionPay, the Extension sends your ExtensionPay key to our server once, and our server asks ExtensionPay whether that key has paid, to move your purchase over automatically.
Payments are handled by Stripe, which acts as merchant of record. Stripe collects the data needed for the payment (such as your email address, name, billing address and payment details) under its own privacy policy. We never see your card details. Our license records (license key, install IDs, purchase date and the email used at checkout) are stored with your purchase in our Stripe account and are used only to provide and restore your license and to answer support requests.
To ask about or delete your purchase data, email contact@n6.studio.
Permissions
The Extension requires the following Chrome permissions:
- storage: Required to store your preferences and settings locally
- activeTab: Required to access and interact with the game website
- windows: Required for extension window management functionality
- Host permission for https://extensionpay.com/*: Used only to recognize purchases made through ExtensionPay and move them to your new license
These permissions are used exclusively for the Extension's core functionality and are not used to collect or transmit your content to external services.
User Rights
You have complete control over your data. You can:
- Access your data: All stored data can be viewed through Chrome's extension storage management tools
- Modify your data: Change your preferences and settings at any time through the Extension's interface
- Delete your data: Remove all Extension data by uninstalling the Extension or clearing Chrome's extension storage
- Export your data: Use Chrome's developer tools to export your stored data if needed
